Hi I'm Ali! I am an international student majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I was born and brought up in Pakistan, where I finished GCE O Level in Pure Sciences before I got accepted at LaGuardia Community College. As an API Tutor, I tutor for the course Algebra and Trigonometry (MAT 117) which is an accelerated math. My goal is to create a fun-learning environment for my students so that they can learn and practice their math skills without the fear of being judged or graded. MAT 117 is an essential course for all students as it strengthens their algebraic and basic trigonometric skills. As a peer, I understand math can be overwhelming for some students. Hence, I try to make my tutoring sessions entertaining yet helpful by showing different methods of approaching answers and by using techniques that are easy to remember. I also am using API as a platform to brush up on my skills as an educator.
Hello! My name is Anthony Pulatov and I’m tutoring MAT 117 for the fall 2018 semester. I was born and raised in Queens and have been living here ever since. This is my second semester at LaGuardia while majoring in Liberal arts: math and science. I plan on transferring to a four year university at the end of the spring semester for physics. My goal here is to help my fellow peers improve and reinforce their knowledge in this course so they can be successful and to hopefully enlighten them about the joy that math can bring!
My name is Azim. I was born and raised in India and moved to New York when I was 20 years old. I was pursuing an undergraduate in Computer Engineering in India, but due to some financial issues I had to drop my education and start earning for my family. I got the opportunity to move to USA when I was 22 and that's when I restarted my journey towards my education. I am a first person in my family to go to college and the only reason I am motivated to pursue my education after such a long setback is the fact that I had some really good professors in my school days who recognized and appreciated my hardworking attitude. I see the position of Academic Peer Instructor as a tribute to all the teachers who directly or indirectly pushed me to keep up with the journey of learning and to keep believing in myself. I believe that if I am able to make such a difference in at least one students life, I will be successful in paying back my respects to all my teachers.

Hi, my name is Mohammad Rezwan Hossain. I’m a student at LaGuardia Community College majoring in Computer Science. I have always been very passionate about coding and hacking in general. I love working on the Linux Operating System, since it’s not perfect and it is always improving. It makes you engage with the opensource community to figure out the problems you will run into while using this system. This helped shape me into a flexible problem solver and made me open to the concept of Computer Science. I built a Virtual Private Network in a pocket-sized computer using opensource code from GitHub. It took me three months to build, but the whole process was worth it. I then added a hard drive which now serves me as a Cloud Storage. I always wanted to be a Software Developer at Google and I believe being an API Tutor is the first step towards achieving my dream

My name is Pasang Sherpa. I am a full time LaGuardia student, and I will be an academic peer instructor for anatomy and physiology 2. The textbook can also be very confusing, therefore my aim is to help students understand the material. I am very grateful for having the opportunity to help others. I think I would have had an easier time with SCB 204 if there was an API in my class.
