Gain a solid educational
foundation in the knowledge, skills and professional attitudes necessary in the
field of Therapeutic Recreation
Leading to an Associate of Science (AS) degree, the Therapeutic Recreation program will begin accepting new students for Fall 2017; current LaGuardia students may change their major to Therapeutic Recreation beginning in Spring 2017. Therapeutic Recreation provides a treatment service designed to restore, remediate and rehabilitate a person’s level of functioning and independence in life activities, to promote health and wellness as well as reduce or eliminate the activity limitations and restrictions to participation in life situations caused by an illness or disabling condition
Upon successful completion of the Therapeutic Recreation
major at LaGuardia, students will be able to:
Students graduating from LaGuardia’s Therapeutic Recreation
program with a minimum 2.5 GPA and a grade of at least C in all required
program courses and all college-level course pre-requisites will be considered
for transfer as a junior to the Therapeutic Recreation program at Lehman
College, leading to a Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) Degree.
