    Below you will find everything you need to know to prepare for the big day.


    Arriving at Queens College

    The ceremony will take place on Monday, June 13, 2016 and will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. and will end at approximately 1:00 p.m.

    Please note: Students must report to their assigned assembly areas (Last name A-L, Student Union; Last name M-Z, Kiely Hall)
    by 8:00 a.m. The Student Procession begins at 9:00 a.m.

    Your family and guests should plan to arrive by 8:30 a.m. and immediately take their seats in the “Quad.” Get directions to Queens College.

    Admissions Info

    Admission tickets for your guests are not required. Seating is on first-come, first-served basis. Arrive early for best seating.

    In order to ensure seating for all graduates, we ask that you complete the RSVP for below, letting us know that you will attend the ceremony. Please complete and submit the form once.

    You will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony without proper academic attire.

    Thorton Studios will be taking graduation portraits on the same dates as the cap and gown distribution.

    Online Ordering begins March 7, 2016 through April 12, 2016                           

    Order your graduation regalia on-line between March 7 and April 1, 2016, and pick it up in person on any one of the following dates: 

    • Monday, May 02, 2016, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Mainstage Theater
    • Monday, May 16, 2016, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Mainstage Theater 
    • Monday, May 23, 2016, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Little Theater

    On-line orders placed between April 2 and April 12, 2016 may be picked up on either of these two dates:

    • Monday, May 16, 2016, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Mainstage Theater
    • Monday, May 23, 2016, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Little Theater 

    If you prefer to have your graduation regalia mailed to your home, a Homeship option is available for an additional shipping and handling fee of $15.95. 
    Homeship is available from March 7 through April 29, 2016.

    Pay In Person, Pick-up On Campus

    On any of the following dates, you may come to campus and purchase your graduation regalia in person. Please arrive with a non-refundable cash payment of $35, and expect to be helped on a first come, first served basis.

    We will hold a commencement dress rehearsal for all graduates. You will be shown how to properly wear your graduation regalia, how to line-up for the processional, and how to go up on the stage and be recognized. Rehearsals will be held on each of the scheduled cap and gown distribution dates.

    Thorton Studios will be taking graduation portraits on the same dates as cap and gown distribution:

    • Monday, May 16, 2016, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Mainstage Theater Dressing Room Area
    • Monday, May 23, 2016, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Mainstage Theater Dressing Room Area

      No appointment or payment is necessary at the sitting but do expect a wait time of approximately 30 minutes.

      The photographers will have only a cap and gown for you to wear during the shoot. You may bring your honors regalia and other props.

      Important note

      The Summit Apartments located at Queens College will be available for overnight accommodations for LaGuardia faculty, staff, graduates and guests attending the commencement ceremony on June 13. Check in is Sunday, June 12 only, not before. Pricing to stay overnight is $125/night for a suite or $65/night for 1 bed in a shared suite. 

      Please visit the Summit website for reservations. Be sure to indicate that you are attending the LaGuardia Community College graduation on June 13. Your reservation must be completed by May 30, 2016. 

        Seating arrangements for students or guests with special needs may be made in advance. On the day of Commencement, College staff will help direct guests with special needs to their seats via accessible routes.
