    To our graduates, we look forward to your participation in the 2017 commencement exercises as a way of sharing this great accomplishment with your fellow students, family, faculty and staff who have supported you on your journey.


    The ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Barclays Center, 620 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00 p.m. and will end at approximately 7:00 p.m. Doors will open at 3:00 p.m. for your families and guests.
     

    IMPORTANT: The ceremony will be approximately three (3) hours. You must stay for the entire event.
    Once the procession has begun, you may not leave the Center. Cell phone usage is not permitted in the Barclays Center. The College will not be responsible for any personal belongings (i.e., bags, strollers, umbrellas, and other miscellaneous items).

    ALL GRADUATES MUST REMAIN UNTIL THE END OF THE CEREMONY!

    Admissions Info

    Graduates will be given five (5) tickets for their family and friends. Graduates do not need an admission ticket for themselves. Your cap & gown will serve as your admission ticket.





  • Commencement Guests

    Arrival Time

    Graduates - Please arrive at 2:30 p.m. completely robed in gown, hood, cap and tassel at the Dean Street entrance (on the corner of Flatbush Avenue) for line-up. If you are graduating with honors, remember to bring your honor’s cord. Graduates will enter the waiting area and will be greeted by College volunteers and Barclays Center staff who will direct them in the proper position for the processional which will begin sharply at 4:00 p.m.

    Note: There will be another college commencement prior to LaGuardia’s ceremony so please pay attention to signs for lineup.

    Family & Guests - May arrive as early as 2:30 p.m. and enter at the 620 Atlantic Avenue entrance. The arena doors will open at 3:00 p.m. and guests should be seated by 4:00 p.m. Anyone arriving after 4:00 p.m. will not be allowed to enter until after the graduates have been seated. Please be aware that if you leave the Center, you will not be permitted to reenter. Due to occupancy limits and fire code regulations, infants and children cannot attend without a ticket of their own.

    Academic Procession Graduates will process into the arena according to your major within the 8 academic departments of the College – Business and Technology, Education and Language Acquisition; English; Health Sciences; Humanities; Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science; Natural Sciences; and Social Science.

    Security Screening @ Barclays
    Prior to entering the arena all guests are subject to security screening, visual inspection, and bag inspection conducted by Barclays Center Security personnel. Security screenings are designed to detect prohibited items from entering the venue.

    Guests may not bring food and/or beverages to the arena. Glass bottles or metal canisters are strictly prohibited.

    Note: There will be no lockers or storage space to secure your personal items.
    Bags, cameras, and phones should be left with your family members. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress accordingly as you may be standing for an extended period of time prior to the procession into the Barclays Center.

    How to Order Your Graduation Regalia
    (Cap & Gown)

    You will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony without proper academic attire.


    Price: $35.00

    Online Ordering begins February 6, 2017 through March 31, 2017                       

    Order your graduation regalia on-line between February 6 and March 31, 2017, and pick it up in person on any one of the following dates: 

    • Monday, May 01, 2017, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Mainstage Theater
    • Tuesday, May 02, 2017, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Mainstage Theater 
    • Thursday, May 18, 2017, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Mainstage Theater

    If you prefer to have your graduation regalia mailed to your home, a shipping option is available for an additional shipping and handling fee of $15.95.
    Homeship is available from February 6 through March 31, 2017.

    Please keep your cap and gown as a souvenir.
    Important note - Please be sure to pick up your cap and gown by May 18.

    Pay In Person, Pick-up On Campus

    On any of the following dates, you may come to campus and purchase your graduation regalia in person. Please arrive with a non-refundable cash payment of $35, and expect to be helped on a first come, first served basis.

    Important note - Please be sure to pick up your cap and gown by May 18. When you pick up your cap & gown, you will also be given five (5) tickets for your guests.

    Thorton Studios will be taking graduation portraits on the same dates as cap and gown distribution:

    • Monday, May 01, 2017, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Mainstage Theater Dressing Room Area
    • Tuesday, May 02, 2017, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Mainstage Theater Dressing Room Area
    • Thursday, May 18, 2017, 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Mainstage Theater Dressing Room Area

    No appointment or payment is necessary at the sitting but do expect a wait time of approximately 30 minutes.

    The photographers will have only a cap and gown for you to wear during the shoot. You may bring your honors regalia and other props.

    Important note
    - Please be sure to pick up your cap and gown by May 18. 



    Seating arrangements for students or guests with special needs may be made in advance. On the day of Commencement, college volunteers and Barclays Center staff will help direct guests with special needs to their seats via accessible routes.
